Why Joy?

Bible Verse of the Day

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Psalm 94:19

Over the next couple of days, we are going to look at his verse in greater depth.   It is not known for sure who wrote Psalm 94, some think it was David, others believe it was someone else.

For today I want to begin with a question…

What is the importance of joy in our lives?

Joy is often the first thing the enemy tries to steal from us, just look at how your life has been assaulted and you will see a constant attack on joy.  But why joy, why does he try to attack there?

The enemy knows that our joy is our first line of defense and if he can get that to fall he has a much easier time trying to steal our hope, and then our faith, and more.

Joy is vital in our lives.  Notice the words of the psalmist… your consolation brought me joy.

God knows how important joy is in our lives and wants us to have it (remember the abundant life Jesus came that we may have).

For today I am asking you to join me in spending sometime with God thanking Him for any joy we currently have, asking Him to help us see the things we have to be joyful about, and to open our eyes to the attempts of the evil one to steal it.

In the Father’s love, Sam
