Life!

Bible Verse of the Day

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

Over the last few days we have been digging into this verse and learning more about it.  Today we are focusing on Jesus’ statement that he is the life.

The Greek word used here for life and the definition are:

zóé: life

Original Word: ζωή, ῆς, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: zóé
Phonetic Spelling: (dzo-ay')
Definition: life
Usage: life, both of physical (present) and of spiritual (particularly future) existence.

Notice that the meaning is for life in the present and in the future.

Our salvation is a wonderful thing, and life after this life is an amazing gift.   Sometimes we focus on that and forget that Jesus came that we could have more life now as well.

He came to bind up our broken hearts and set us free from that which enslaves us (Isaiah 61:1).  Those are promises of today, not eventually.

He came that we may have life abundantly (John 10:10).

So what are we waiting for?

My prayer for you and me is that we will continue to let down the walls we put up to protect our hearts and let Jesus in to administer healing and restoration.

In the Father’s love, Sam
